Q3. What are the factors that lead to grapevine communication?
Ans. Informal communication is known as grapevine. It follows no set lines, no any definite rules, but spreads like grapevine, in any direction anywhere and spread fast. The grapevine becomes active when the following factors are present:
a.) Feeling of uncertainty or lack of sense of direction when the organization is passing through a difficult period.
b.) Feeling of inadequacy or lack of self confidence on the part of the employee, leading to the formation of groups.
c.) Formation of a favored group by the manager, giving employees feeling of insecurity or isolation.
